Layered Space
Madrone, Claro walnut, shellac

Layered Space is the first piece I created at the Krenov School. The cabinet is an investigation of light and shadow. I used curved frame and panel construction to layer the interior and exterior spaces, inviting light to move through the case. Interaction with the cabinet further reveals the interplay between shadow, light and depth. The panels and pierced carvings of the cabinet were inspired by anatomical drawings from the Gray’s Anatomy medical textbook, specifically the vascular system of the hand.
